Premier League announces the vaccination percentage among players

According to the Premier League, 81 percent of the players have had their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine.

The

Premier League

announced through an official statement that 68 percent of the players are fully vaccinated.

Of the remaining, 13 percent have had their first dose and 19 percent are not yet vaccinated.

Premier League collects the information on vaccination on a weekly basis, as per their statement on Tuesday, which reveals that they constantly encourage the players and staff members to receive the vaccine.

The individuals’ identity, however, will not be released, nor will the information regarding their clubs.

Some of the managers in the Premier League spoke out in favor of the vaccination, especially Liverpool’s

Jurgen Klopp

.

"

I didn't have to convince the players, it was more a natural decision from the team,"

Klopp said.

"I cannot remember really talking to a player in a one-on-one situation and explaining to him.

"I don't take the vaccination only to protect me, I take the vaccination to protect all the people around me. I don't understand why that is a limitation of freedom because, if it is, then not being allowed to drink and drive is a limitation of freedom as well.

"I got the vaccination because I was concerned about myself but even more so about everybody around me. If I get [Covid] and I suffer from it: my fault. If I get it and spread it to someone else: my fault and not their fault."

Gareth Southgate

, the England boss, on the other hand, denied that “most” of his players are not yet fully vaccinated and he insisted that he believes vaccination is the only way out of the pandemic.
