Fabregas: Messi is very happy at PSG

The former Barcelona midfielder insists the Argentine icon is having fun at his new club.

Lionel Messi left Barcelona after 21 years to join PSG on a free transfer this summer. The Argentine superstar was keen to stay at the Catalan side, but the club were not able to extend his contract due to financial issues.

Since his transfer to PSG, Messi has featured in five matches for the French giants. Aside from his wonderful strike against Manchester City in the Champions League, Messi’s form at Parc des Prince seems far from reaching its peak under Mauricio Pochettino.

Monaco midfielder Cesc Fabregas is unhappy about his former teammate’s departure from the Catalan side but believes the six-time Ballon d’Or winner is having fun at his new club.

"He's very happy. There are a lot of players he knows already and who speak Spanish. He's very happy, of course,"

Fabregas told

Prime Video Sport.

"I was on holiday with him a week earlier, and he told me he was close to signing for Barcelona and he was due to start training the following week.

"Five days later, he told me it wasn't possible and that the club had told him to leave. I was very sad because I'm his friend and I'm a Barcelona fan. But now, I'm happy to be able to play against him this season."

Messi was not listed in PSG’s squad for their 2-1

win

over Angers on Friday as he was on international duty with Argentina. The 34-year-old is set to play for the Parisians in their Champions League battle against RB Leipzig on Tuesday.
