Watford appointed Ranieri as their manager

The Italian coach hopes to get the Hornets back on track.

Claudio Ranieri returned to the Premier League for a fourth term and took charge of

Watford

.

The Hornets became the first Premier League club to change coaches in the current season. They have only gained 7 points so far this season and are under pressure from the fans. Now they have reached the point where the experienced Ranieri, who won the Premier League with Leicester City, can get them back on track.

Ranieri did not lead another team after last season with Sampdoria in Serie A. Watford decided to choose Ranieri, considering Leicester City's dream championship in the 2015-16 season. He previously coached Chelsea between September 2000 and May 2004 and also coached Fulham for 17 games from November 2018 to February 2019.

The club's statement reads:

"Watford FC confirms Xisco Munoz has left his post as the club's head coach. The board feels recent performances strongly indicate a negative trend at a time when team cohesion should be visibly improving.

“The Hornets will always be grateful to Xisco for the part he played in securing last season's promotion and wish him well for his future career in football.”
