Spurs and Sevilla complete swap deal for Erik Lamela and Bryan Gil

Lamela ends his eight-year stay at the north London side, while the Spurs add young blood to their ranks.

Tottenham have officially confirmed the signing of

Bryan Gil

from Sevilla. In addition to moving

Erik Lamela

to the Spanish side, the Spurs are set to pay a £21.6m fee for the transfer.

“We are delighted to announce the signing of Bryan Gil from Sevilla, with Erik Lamela joining the Spanish club as part of the deal.”

the club’s official

statement

reads.

“The exciting young winger, 20, joins us on a contract until 2026.”

Erik Lamela has reportedly completed his medicals at the Spanish side. However, Gil is expected to join the Spurs after the Olympics as he is part of Spain’s squad for the summer games.

After finishing seventh in the Premier League last season, the Spurs are determined to reclaim their place among the Premier League front-runners. Following the signing of

Pierluigi Gollini

from Atalanta, Gil is the club’s second signing under the stewardship of their new boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

Gil has established a reputation as one of the finest young wingers of La Liga in recent seasons. The 20-year-old, who is recognized for his speed and dribbling skills, spent the last season on loan at Eibar, where he scored four goals and provided four assists in his 29 appearances for the Basque side.

On the other hand, Lamela ends his eight-year spell at Tottenham. Having left Roma on a £30m deal, the Argentinian winger joined the Spurs in 2013. Lamela was among the players who were signed by raising money from the sale of

Gareth Bale

to Real Madrid. Despite his struggles for fitness, Lamela managed to feature in 257 matches for Tottenham across all competitions, scoring 37 goals and providing 47 assists.
