Inter Miami are eyeing the Napoli striker, offering him a challenge in MLS, as per reports in Italy.

According to

Il Mattino newspaper

,

Dries Mertens

and his representatives were contacted by the Major League Soccer side to ask if he would like to play in the United States of America.

The

Napoli

striker has been playing for the club since 2013, joining from PSV Eindhoven and his contract is due to expire in 2022, but his deal has an option to extend for another year.

Reports suggest that Napoli are willing to cash in on the Belgium international, who is their all-time top scorer, with 135 goals in 360 matches for the club.

Should he leave for

Inter Miami

, the 34-year-old will be reunited with his ex-Napoli teammate Gonzalo Higuain.

Inter Miami did not get off on the right foot this season, with six losses in a row and they are sitting rock bottom on the MLS Eastern Conference table.

David Beckham is a co-owner of the club.
