Lyon is back to sign Umtiti on loan from Barcelona
With the summer addition of Eric Garcia from Manchester City, the Blaugrana have five centre-backs at their disposal, Ronald Araujo, Clement Lenglet, Gerard Pique, Oscar Mingueza, and Eric Garcia, which leaves the Frenchman on the transfer list.
According to
Sport, Lyon are said to be “working on a plan” to sign the World Cup winner this summer.
Joining Barca from Lyon for a $27.50m fee in 2016, the former France international has only made 16 Barcelona appearances across all competitions this season, and has been linked with moves to Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal recently.

Umtiti’s
signature currently. However, Speaking with Canal Plus back in October, the Frenchman said of Lyon:
“Lyon is my team. It is my city. It is the team that has given me the opportunity to play in Europe, in Barcelona and with the French national team.
“There were discussions with them during the market, but there was never anything concrete with the club.”
Barcelona
wants him to go to France or Italy, where he can play at a slower pace and find his form, while he will reportedly be offered a contract renewal before departing the club, reducing his salary.
