De Laurentiis not worried about losing Insigne on a free transfer

Napoli and captain Lorenzo Insigne have stopped their negotiations and Aurelio De Laurentiis does not care about losing him on free when he hits free agency next summer.

Lorenzo Insigne

’s contract at

Napoli

will run out in June 2022 and the club’s new manager

Luciano Spalletti

appears keen on retaining the 30-year-old’s services.

However, the affair linked with the Italy international’s renewal is of concern for the club fans and is going to raise a lot of attention in the upcoming weeks, if not months.

The Italy captain is going back to his club following his international duty and he has yet to schedule a meeting with patron

De Laurentiis

.

As per reports from

Calciomercato.com

, there is a great distance between what Napoli have offered and what the player has demanded.

Insigne is not willing to lower his asking price and will not pen a new contract that gives him a lower salary than he has right now.

The club has asked Insigne to make a sacrifice as they are facing financial difficulties that need huge cuts.

With other clubs showing interests, like Lazio’s Maurizio Sarri, the supporters are concerned that he may depart this summer.

However, President De Laurentiis does not worry about him hitting free agency and will stand firm.

Spalletti has tried to make peace, but the Italian’s renewal stays a big deal.
