Roma want Alex Tellas on loan, but Man Utd only wants a permanent move

Roma have started negotiations with Manchester United about signing Alex Telles, though on a loan basis to cover the injured Leonardo Spinazzola.

The 28-year-old Brazilian has played in the

Serie A

before, having spent the 2015-16 season as a loanee at Inter from Galatasaray.

He then moved on to FC Porto, where he was bought for €15 million by Manchester United in October 2020.

On the other hand, Telles has slipped down the hierarchy pyramid at Old Trafford as a result of

Luke Shaw

's progress and has been advised to look for a new club this summer.

Roma have sought to take Telles on loan, according to Calciomercato.com, Sky Sport Italia, and others, but the Red Devils only want a permanent move to get him off their payroll.

The Giallorossi only need a loan since Spinazzola is sidelined for seven to nine months due to a damaged Achilles tendon.

He had been on course to be crowned as Player of the Tournament at

UEFA EURO 2020

before his injury.
