Donnarumma says he ‘felt absolute joy’ after Austria's disallowed goal
Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma admits he was in relief after Marko Arnautovic’s goal for Austria was ruled out by VAR, but conceding at the end can help his side progress in Euro 2020.

“We knew it wasn’t going to be easy. We did well to keep everything tight, keep pushing and score the goal to break the deadlock and it was easier from there,”

“It’s true we conceded at the end, but ultimately that might help us going forward.”

looked to have headed Austria into the lead in the second half, but the goal was ruled out by VAR for a marginal offside.
“I was worried, then I saw VAR was checking it and I felt absolute joy when they said it was disallowed.”
Wembley was full of Italian supporters, dominating the 22,000 crowd.
“The emotions are extraordinary, we can’t wait until we can play in a packed stadium in front of these fans.”
Italy will face the
Belgium
Portugal
match-winner in the Euro 2020 quarter-final but it does not matter for Donnarumma.
“It doesn’t matter who we face, we have to keep playing our football and keep going.”
