Norwich open talks to sign Chelsea midfielder Gilmour on loan
Newly-promoted Norwich City have opened talks to sign Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour on loan, but they may face some Premier League competition for the 20-year-old’s signature.
The Scotland international is expected to leave London Blues and spend next season on loan in search of regular game time. However, he sees his long-term future at Stamford Bridge.
Gilmour
is one of the most talented players at
Chelsea. He impressed after breaking into the side under
Frank Lampard
during the 2019-20 season.
However, the 20-year-old wants to play regularly and Chelsea are prepared to let him join
Norwich, who won the Championship last season.
The midfielder was outstanding for Scotland in their goalless draw with
England
at Wembley on Friday night, but a positive COVID-19 test ruled him out of the Group D decider against
Croatia
.
Gilmour made 11 appearances for Chelsea last season, five of which came in the Premier League.

as they prepare for the Premier League.
