Tierney to sign a new five-year deal at Arsenal

The Scottish defender is set to extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium until 2026.

Kieran Tierney

has been a key player for

Arsenal

since his arrival in 2019. The 24-year-old displayed impressive form last season and he is set to remain in Mikel Arteta’s squad. According to

Goal.com

, the Scottish defender is set to sign a new five-year deal with the Gunners that is expected to be announced in the coming days.

The contract renewal is a major boost for Arsenal as it ends the speculation over Tierney’s future. Having left Celtic with a €27m deal, Tierney arrived at the Emirates Stadium in 2019 and immediately became a first-team player for the Gunners. The defender featured in 27 league games for Mikel Arteta’s side in their 2020-21 campaign as they finished eighth in the Premier League.

The north London club are keen to improve their squad ahead of the next season and they are reportedly interested in adding a new midfielder to their ranks. The Gunners have been linked with Anderlecht midfielder

Albert Sambi Lokonga

in recent weeks and they are set to make a bid for the 21-year-old in the upcoming transfer window.
