Robert Page’s men gain their first win in the Euro 2020 against Turkey.

Robert Page’s

men faced

Turkey

in their second Euro 2020 clash on Wednesday at Baku Olimpiya Stadium, and they were so determined to win the game after their draw against Switzerland as their captain

Gareth Bale

said before the game.

Turkey, on the other hand, kicked off the game, having lost their previous match against Italy in a game that they didn’t show much potential as they were defeated 3-0.

Wales

dominated the game in the beginning as expected and created a few opportunities, but they weren’t converted to a goal to give them the lead in the first minutes of the game. Bale dominated the pitch with his impressive performance and created a few chances for scoring and providing goals, but he wasn’t successful like his teammates.

But at the last minutes of the first half, Bale’s tries finally allowed them to take the lead as he provided a pass to Ramsey, who slotted the ball past Turkey’s goalkeeper Cakir from close range. After their goal, which was scored in the 42nd minute of the game, Turkey started to show some aggressiveness but it didn’t last as the first half ended with Wales’ 1-0 lead.

In the second half, Turkey tried with more determination to prevent another defeat, but soon it was Wales' turn to control the game as Gareth Bale kept hurting the opponents' defensive line with his fast strikes and ball control ability. Bale who had been the game’s most important player even had a chance to score a goal from penalty, but it was deflected by the keeper to prevent Real Madrid’s star from seeing his name on the score sheet. He even created multiple opportunities to double the lead, but Turkey’s hardworking defensive line prevented more goals to keep their hopes alive for the last ten minutes of the game, and with the beginning of the last twenty minutes they started to raise the pressure on the opposition, although Wales’ compact defense prevented Turkish players from creating danger in their box as they kept desperately trying to level the game as the game got closer to the end.

Turkey’s most important opportunity in the second half was in the 87th, where they missed their chance to convert a header to a goal from a corner kick.

In the last minutes, the game was stopped by a fight between the players after a clash that made the referee show his yellow card to three players, and a few minutes later, Robert scored Wales' second goal again with a pass from Bale.

Finally, Wales secured the first win in the Euro 2020, and Turkey experienced another defeat to make their situation harder.
