Lamela wins PL Goal of the season

Erik Lamela’s Rabona against Arsenal was named the best goal of the season.

Tottenham’s

star

Erik Lamela

wins the Premier League Goal of the Season award for his Rabona goal against the Gunners in a game that his side was defeated, and he was sent off. It was Erik Lamela’s only Premier League goal in the season.

Lamela came in as a substitute in that game and gave Tottenham the lead after 30 minutes in the north London Derby with a spectacular Rabona shot before being sent off in the second half by receiving two yellow cards, and the disappointment was completed when they lost the game 2-1 with their only goal being the best goal of the season.

The goal against Arsenal, however, wasn’t the Argentine’s first time scoring with a Rabona as he had scored a similar goal in Europa League against Asteras Tripolis at White Hart Lane in October 2014, but they won that game.

The Goal of the Season award was given to a Tottenham player last year too when Heung-Min Son won the title for his impressive solo goal against Burnley.

The other nominees for the title this year were: James Maddison (vs Man City, September 27), Manuel Lanzini (vs Spurs October 18), Ola Aina (vs West Brom November 2), Sebastien Haller (vs Crystal Palace December 16), Mohamed Salah (vs West Ham January 31), Bruno Fernandes (vs Everton February 6), Jesse Lingard (vs Wolves April 5), Edinson Cavani (vs Fulham May 18).
