United, City, and Juventus great Tevez announces departure from Boca

After enjoying a decorated career across South America and Europe, with clubs such as Manchester United, Manchester City, Juventus, Westham, and Boca Juniors, the Argentine striker has confirmed that he will be leaving the Argentine giants as he mentally is "not ready" to compete right now.

Rejoining his boyhood club for the third time in 2018 from Shanghai Shenhua, the 37-year-old was still able to perform at the highest levels, scoring 3 goals and providing 2 assists in his 12 Copa de la Liga outings this term.

However, in a press conference convened on Friday, the 37-year-old revealed that he would not play for Boca in the second half of the year.

"This is not a farewell, but a see you soon," Tevez said to reporters. "I have nothing else to give Boca.

"Mentally I am not ready. I didn't even have time to mourn my father, that's how demanding this is.

"At this point in time I need to lean on my family and be there for them.

"Today I can say that yes, I’m retiring, but maybe in three months I wake up and I want to play again, but not in Boca Juniors again.

"I want to thank the [Boca] leadership, colleagues and coaching staff."

Bagging a Copa Libertadores, 3 Premier League titles, 2 Serie A titles and a Champions League, the former Argentina international has been among the most achieved stars of his generation.
