Arsenal loanee Joe Willock wishes for more years at Newcastle

Arsenal loanee Joe Willock has said he wants to extend his stay with Newcastle next season after he wrote his name into the Premier League’s history with another goal in Wednesday’s 1-0 victory over relegated Sheffield United.

Willock

joined the Magpies in January on loan until the end of the season after struggling to earn regular game time under

Mikel Arteta

.

The 21-year-old’s strike at St James’ Park saw him become the youngest player in the Premier League’s history to score in six consecutive matches, at the age of just 21 years and 272 days.

The midfielder says that

Newcastle United

are one of his summer options and he is considering the move to Tyneside next season.

"I'm not sure. I need to have a conversation and see what the best move for me is. I have made friends for life and made a really big connection with the fans,”

Willock told

BBC Sport

.

"It is one of my options and I am going to consider it."

Newcastle manager

Steve Bruce

said he would like to keep the midfielder beyond this season.

"As I have said before, it's a double-edged sword. We have to respect he's Arsenal's player. If we can, we'd love to bring him here,"

the manager added

.

"Let's see what we can do because he's exactly what we needed. Joe has still got a lot to learn but we have given him a freedom and a license to get forward. He is a young player enjoying his football."
