Barcelona legend's dream comes true - Dani Alves recalled by Brazil

After spending 17 years in the top level of European football, Dani Alves is still playing at the high level in his native Brazil with Sao Paulo.

Although the former Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, and Barcelona fullback has not represented Brazil since 2019, Le Seleção's head coach, Tite, has now opted to bring him back into his squad for their vital 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay next month.

The Brazil head coach told

AS

about the 38-year-old defender: “Alves is in a good moment and has a great history with the National Team.

“In qualifying matches for the World Cup there is no time for recovery and he is playing at his physical peak.

“He has great leadership skills and that’s very good for the group.”

Alves himself expressed his intentions to make Brazil’s squad for the 2022 World Cup in an interview with

the Guardian

last week.

“The World Cup is a dream that I won’t give up,” Alves said. “I will fight to keep myself at a high level and to have this last experience with my national squad. This is my challenge.

“It’s no use just dreaming. I will compete. Now it’s time to work and to build. What motivates me are competition and my dreams. As long as I am alive I will fight for my dreams.”
