Mancini is confident of Verratti’s availability for Euro 2020

The Italian midfielder picked up a knee injury during Paris Saint-Germain’s French cup victory over Montpellier, and with approximated 6-week recovery time, he’s on the verge of losing a part of Italy’s Euro 2020 competition.

However, Italy boss is quite confident that Marco Verratti’s injury won’t rule him out of the competition, he told

Sky Sport Italia

: “The important thing is that now there are no more surprises in terms of injuries, so you can easily choose.

“Verratti’s injury is not a simple one, but I’m quite confident. I spoke to him about it, there’s a month left, and we will see in the coming weeks.”

The former Manchester City and Inter boss believes the balance he made between young and experienced players in his Italy squad has boosted their team spirit. He continued: “Our team have a specific identity and know what to do.

“Then, as always, we need creativity, but we have the players suited for this.

“So far, we have focused on young players, and the experienced ones have helped us on and off the pitch.

“I think we have created a good feeling and this has been fundamental for our growth.”
