Tierney ruled out for the season

The Scot damaged his knee ligament during his side’s clash with Liverpool, and according to his manager, he is likely to miss the upcoming Euro 2020 tournament.

Granit Xhaka filled in for injured Kieran Tierney in the Gunners’ 3-0 victory over Sheffield United on Sunday.

Arteta said: “Today he had a really strong performance and he gives you another option. Kieran is out, probably for the season so we need different options at that position and he can be one of those.”

Giving an injury update ahead of Arsenal’s upcoming Europa League fixture with Slavia Prague, the Spaniard added: “I think for Thursday, David [Luiz] will be out, Kieran [Tierney] will be out - and then Emile [Smith Rowe] and Martin [Odegaard], we don’t know yet. With Bukayo [Saka], let’s see how he develops in the next few days.”

About Aubameyang’s injury situation, he said: “He was unwell yesterday. He could not train. He could not be available today, but hopefully in the next day or two he will be feeling better and he will be available to get picked.”
