TSJM clears Xabi Alonso of tax charges for the second time

Back in 2019, the Madrid courts of Plaza de Castilla cleared the former Real Madrid star of €572,008 tax charges. However, the ‘unusual behavior’ of the accused alongside new evidence led to the reopening of the case.

According to

El Mundo

, Xabi Alonso, his tax advisor Ivan Zaldúa and advisor Ignasi Maestre have once again been acquitted of tax crime by the Superior Court of Justice of Madrid (TSJM).

With him and his advisors having to then attend trials and risk being sentenced to more than eight years in prison, Alonso was the only footballer who refused to agree to a sentence and fine by the Spanish Treasury back in 2019.
