"I won't let Sabitzer go" - Konrad Laimer wants his teammate to stay

RB Leipzig midfielder, Konrad Laimer is struggling to persuade Marcel Sabitzer to keep playing for the team.

Konrad Laimer

has said that he won't let his teammate and fellow Austrian international,

Marcel Sabitzer

leave

RB Leipzig

this summer.

According to last week's reports, Sabitzer has decided to move away from the team this summer.

"Don't worry about it. I won't let 'Sabi' go,"

the 23-year-old jokingly mentioned in an interview with Leipziger Volkszeitung.

"I've already told him that he can't leave after what has been such a lousy season for me. I want to be on the grass alongside him for at least another year,"

Laimer continued.

However, Laimer, who couldn't play this season because of an ankle fracture, is trying to ensure that Sabitzer stays for another season and is hoping to get back to action before this season ends.

"I'm pain-free, feel good, and can do everything on the pitch, including parts of team training,"

Laimer added.

"My goal is to play football this season. First and foremost, there are still a few great games and tasks ahead with RB.

"And if everything goes perfectly, featuring for the Austrian national team could be a possibility as well."
