Shaqiri plays down claims about having the best left foot in Liverpool

The Reds forward says he doesn’t place himself above Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson.

The competition over who has the best left foot at Anfield has generated claims about

Xherdan Shaqiri

being above

Mohamed Salah

and

Andrew Robertson

on the list. Robertson himself has recently suggested that Shaqiri must take the honors as he has displayed his abilities over several seasons. However, the Swiss forward says he doesn’t consider his left foot being better than those of Salah and Robertson.

“My left foot is not bad, to be honest.”

Shaqiri told

Sky Sports

.

“I showed that in training a bit with my free-kicks or when I put one in the corner. Maybe that is why they say that I am the best, but we have a lot of good left-footed players so I do not like to say that I am the best.”

Since his move to Anfield from Stoke City in 2018, The 29-year-old has found himself down the pecking order behind Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, and Roberto Firmino. The former Bayern Munich player has made 59 appearances for the Reds during his three-season stay at Anfield.
