Cagliari believes that "Ronaldo should've seen red"

Cagliari president, Tommaso Giulini agrees with the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo should’ve received a red card for clattering Alessio Cragno in the face before his Juve hat-trick.

Ronaldo managed to score three goals in the first 32 minutes of the match at the Sardegna Arena.

However, he could've been sent off after 12 minutes, right after he scored the opener for Juve.

“We didn’t put in a good first half, as we lacked ferocity, aggression and heart,”

President Giulini announced to

Sky Sport Italia

.

“I hope to see a completely different attitude when we play Spezia next week. We didn’t even get a single yellow card and I think that reflects how timid our performance was.

CR7 was given a yellow card right after scoring the goal for dangerous play, because he went in high to meet a Chiesa cross, catching goalkeeper Alessio Cragno with a boot to the jaw, cutting him on the chin.

“I am truly disappointed by the way my players approached this, but I am above all upset that Ronaldo was not sent off, as that incident could’ve changed the game."

Many believed that Ronaldo committed a serious foul and should've been sent off immediately.

“It was dangerous play, it put the safety of our goalkeeper at risk and therefore ought to be punished with a red card. This is what the rulebook states.”

This match was the first loss for

Cagliari

since Leonardo Semplici took over the team from Eusebio Di Francesco, having managed to earn seven points from three rounds.

“We are more solid, we defend well and are able to counter more. We hadn’t scored in a long time with Di Francesco, whereas again this evening despite it all we were able to find the net.

“However, I hope this performance is just a hiccup, because I didn’t see the same attitude as in recent matches. If we are to stay in Serie A, we need a completely different approach.”
