Man Utd considers Oblak as de Gea replacement

United fans believe that de Gea is one of the reasons for their failure.

Manchester United are ready to enter the goalkeeper's market in the summer and Jan Oblak will be their main option.

Sky Sports

confirmed that United have been monitoring Oblak's conditions for more than a year and are summing up their analysis of summer transfers to buy Atletico Madrid's goalie. Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea's conditions are by no means good, and Sergio Romero, whose contract expires in the summer, will surely leave the team.

De Gea returned to Spain for the birth of his child, and the Red Devils' goalkeeper is said to be investigating the situation to return to Madrid, a city where his wife works as a TV presenter.

In de Gea's absence, Dean Henderson was quick to prove himself as Manchester's main goalkeeping option, but even if he performs well, United will buy a new goalkeeper in the summer.

In addition to Oblak, Gianluigi Donnarumma is the Red Devils' other option, which will be a free agent at the end of the season. Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan is also United's other option, which will be available with an achievable figure.

But buying Oblak for United would be very costly. The termination clause of his contract is £103m and there are two years left on his contract. During the coronavirus crisis, it is impossible for the Red Devils to pay such a sum. United hope de Gea's desire to return to Madrid can open a way for the two goalkeepers to swap to compensate for part of Oblak's transfer figure.
