Luke Brattan will be out against Macarthur FC

The player will miss his side’s Sunday derby against Macarthur due to a head injury.

Luke Brattan

suffered a head knock in

Sydney

’s 3-2 defeat against

Melbourne City

on Tuesday. The player passed concussion protocols but was substituted a few minutes later. The 30-year-old has participated in his team’s training sessions, but the Sky Blues have decided not to use him in their crucial derby match against

Macarthur

on Sunday.

"You can't take any risks with this situation,"

Sydney’s manager

Steve Corica

said.

"As much as I know Luke wants to play, we will have to do without him this weekend."

This is the second time Brattan has suffered a serious head injury during a match. The player collided heads with

Stefan Mauk

in a cup match in 2018 and was transported to the hospital immediately. However, he was released after a short period of time as no indication of a serious injury was found in his tests.
