Barcelona have not backed down on signing Memphis Depay

Reportedly, Barcelona have not backed down on signing Lyon forward, Memphis Depay this January.

The Dutchman is out of contract at the Ligue 1 leaders, meaning that the French team are in a rush to either renew his deal or agree to a sale.

Reports highlight the interest of

Barcelona

in the ex-Manchester United forward.

Memphis

performed under Ronald Koeman, the current

Barcelona

boss for the Dutch national team, and this link is starting rumors that the two are being reunited.

Koeman announced in an interview:

“That (a move for Depay) is certainly a possibility. I will try, because I would like to have him here.”

Memphis

began at PSV Eindhoven but had a tough spell at United for 18 months before joining Lyon in January 2017.

During his time in Ligue 1, using both technical skills with his physicality,

Memphis

has grown into one of Europe’s most highly-rated attacking players.

After recovering from a knee injury earlier in the season,

Memphis

aided Lyon to the semi-finals of last season’s Champions League, with the team currently being on top of Ligue 1.
