Chicago Red Stars sign with Sky Blue forward Pugh

The now-former New Jersey forward has only featured less than a year for her ex-club and will try to have a richer vein of form in the Midwest.

The Chicago Red Stars signed with the US international forward

Mallory Pugh

and

Sarah Killion Woldmoe

in a swap deal from Sky Blue FC, who will have the fourth and eighth pick in the 2021 NWSL draft, and a conditional first round selection.

The 22-year-old Pugh has made her second switch in one year when she moved to Sky Blue in January. However, she only featured once for the club due to injury and coronavirus conditions.

Pugh will play with her World Cup Champions Team-mates Julie Ertz, Alyssa Naeher, Morgan Gautrat, and Tierna Davidson.

I am incredibly excited for the opportunity to play for the Chicago Red Stars,

” Pugh said. “

The team has so many great players, including some of my USWNT teammates, and I can’t wait to join them and work hard to help the club bring home a championship.

"A huge thanks to the ownership and coach Rory Dames for making this happen. I’ll see you all in the Windy City soon

.”

The forward has made 63 international appearances, finding the back of the net 18 times. However, Vlatko Andonovski, USWNT head coach, has left her off of the Olympic qualifying roster, admitting that she must have more consistency.

"

I want to be clear that she's a very talented player, she performed well and she has a big future in front of her so I'm pretty sure if she keeps on developing, going forward she will be on this roster,

" Andonovski said.

"

For Mal, consistency is crucial for being on this roster. She needs to be more consistent in the day to day, which is extremely hard

."

Woldmoe, on the other hand, has featured in 116 NWSL for Sky Blue, scoring 11 goals and contributing nine assists.
