Fans may want to see Perspolis against Ulsan in Asian Champions’ final

The 2020 AFC Champions League reaches its peak– finally! – on Saturday when Iran’s 2018 runners-up Persepolis looking for the first continental crown with South Korea’s 2012 winners Ulsan Hyundai.

The Al Janoub Stadium in Qatar is the pitch and Asian confederation and Qatar Football Association are negotiating to allow local supporters to visit.

This year’s final, enforced by the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions, will be the first year the continent’s most sought after award will be chosen over a single leg since 2012 and the first decider since 2010 to be performed in a neutral place.

Persepolis

worked hard for their place in the Final after a slow start in the Group Stage in February but struggled so hard to finish as leaders of Group C after the West restart in September.

The Iranian titans became stronger with each fight, having remarkable triumphs over 2011 AFC Champions League winners and home favorites Al Sadd and Uzbekistan’s Pakhtakor in the knockouts before doing their best to defeat Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr on penalties in a tense Semi-final to assure their second Final play in three years.

Ulsan Hyundai

have barely made a mistake in their way to the final, having scored 21 goals which is more than others in the tournament, overcoming every match since their campaign restarted in Qatar.

The 2012 Asian club champions defeated Melbourne Victory and Beijing FC in the knockouts before an excellent comeback carried them to win this season’s debutants Vissel Kobe in extra-time on Sunday.
