Prandelli: ‘it’s the interpretation given to the role that counts’

Cesare Prandelli, who has become the new Fiorentina coach, believes ‘changes must be made gradually’.

Cesare Prandelli

has replaced Beppe Iachini as the new coach for

Fiorentina

He talked about how he is going to manage his new team. He believes that ‘changes must be made gradually and it’s the interpretation given to the role that counts, not the numbers’.

“I’d like to see the desire to win, see a team united with ideas,” Prandelli said.

“I’ve found a group of very helpful guys. Those who returned from their national team arrived yesterday, we only had two training sessions together, but they are all very motivated.

“Changes must be made gradually, it’s the interpretation given to the role that counts, not the numbers. With [Pol] Lirola and [Cristiano] Biraghi, for example, you can play in many ways, both with three or four defenders.

“Everyone at the club is motivated and there is cohesion, fans should appreciate the efforts of the club and their desire to build a great future.”

He also talked about the importance of

Franck Ribery

and

José Maria Callejon

.

“I’ve immediately had a confrontation with Franck, he is a leader who always wants to win. I don’t want him to become the only reference. We are working to help him to be more incisive both when he scores and when he delivers assists.”

“I’ve also spoken to Callejon, he’s an important player, who can make a difference.

“We have established that we will need to follow a path, he is working to reach his best physical condition, and then we’ll try to include him in our system and ideas.”
