Barcelona embark on presidential elections

Based on a report in La Vanguardia, the elections of the president in Barcelona will occur on Sunday 17 January.

The resignation Josep Maria Bartomeu, of former club supremo, has been acknowledged the previous month.

 Carlos Tusquets is a temporary manager of the Blaugrana by now.

Tusquets is responsible for analyzing the monetary conditions and think on the suggested wage decreases.  

 The election may be extended to more than one day because of the pandemic crisis.

Among six candidates, Victor Font is said to be appropriate for the position

Also, other five nominees including Jordi Farré, Toni Freixa, Lluís Fernández Alá, Agustí Benedito and Pere Riera.

Former Barcelona president Joan Laporta  is not yet among the candidate. But he has been confirmed so far now.

Not only a qualified lawyer, but also has Laporta served as MP in the Parliament of Catalonia between 2010 and 2012.

Former vice president Emili Rousaud and former prominent member Xavi Vilajoana may show their intentions for presidential elections.

Furthermore, the former president of the Catalan Football Federation Jordi Roche – has a close friendship with the former Barcelona president Sandro Rosell – and the businessman Juan Rosell may also be included.

Each candidate will need to require the signature acceptance of at least 2,257 members. Also, they have to show a guaranteed payment of at least €124.2m in order to be involved.
