Historical Turning Point: Egypt Takes Initiative in CAF
New Headquarters for the African Football Confederation in the New Administrative Capital, and the Launch of the African Clubs Association to Promote Development and Sustainability.
The President of the African Football Confederation (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, signed a cooperation agreement with Ashraf Sobhy, the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, with the aim of relocating the CAF headquarters to Egypt. This agreement includes moving the African Football Confederation headquarters from the city of October 6th to the New Administrative Capital.
On Thursday, CAF officially announced the launch of the African Clubs Association, with Hersi Said elected as its president. Hersi Said currently serves as the head of the Tanzanian club Young Africans.
The goals of the African Clubs Association, as outlined in the announcement, include:
1. **Protecting and enhancing the interests of African football clubs:** Ensuring their commercial viability and global competitiveness to achieve profitability.
2. **Ensuring the respect, credibility, independence, and global standards of referees, match commissioners, and video technology operators.**
3. **Building partnerships with sponsors, the private sector, and governments to construct stadiums:** These stadiums should comply with the standards, infrastructure, and other facilities for football in each CAF and FIFA member association.
4. **Developing African youth talent:** Establishing academies for boys and girls, and improving the quality of football for clubs to meet global standards.
