Muntathar Majid Signs Contract to Represent the Iraqi National Team

Muntathar Majid Signs Contract to Represent the Iraqi National Team.

The Swedish player joins the ranks of the Lions of Mesopotamia after his official approval and the signing of the international license.

On Thursday evening, the Iraqi Football Federation announced the approval of Muntathar Majid, who plays for the Swedish club Hammarby, to represent the Iraqi national team.

Muntathar Majid was born on April 24, 2005, and plays as a winger for Hammarby. On August 10, 2022, Majid moved to Hammarby for an undisclosed fee, signing a three-year contract. During this time, he managed to attract the attention of both the Swedish and Iraqi national teams.

The coach of the Iraqi national teams, Mohammed Naser, stated that the issuance of the international passport was contingent on the player's approval to transfer his file from the Swedish federation to the Iraqi federation, which was successfully accomplished on Thursday. Naser emphasized that Muntathar Majid had previously participated in the youth teams of Sweden, including the Swedish U-21 national team.

Naser pointed out that the player had a strong and sincere desire to represent the Iraqi national team, receiving significant support from his family, who eagerly look forward to Muntathar representing Iraq in upcoming competitions. Naser expressed heartfelt gratitude to the family for their generous cooperation in facilitating Muntathar's representation for the national team.

It is expected that the official documents will be sent to FIFA for authentication, making Muntathar Majid the official representative of the Iraqi national team in upcoming international competitions.
