Roma FC beats Leverkusen

Roma have won the first leg of this semi-final of the European League

The club of

Roma

coach led by coach Jose Mourinho managed to win its battle at home to

Bayer Leverkusen

(1-0) in the first leg of the

European League

semi-finals.

The only goal of the match was scored by

Edoardo Bove

in the 63rd minute to save Rome from stumbling before the return round in Germany next Thursday.

Leverkusen did not need long and decided to surprise its host with a cross that reached Andreich and to meet it with a shot that was saved by

Rui Patricio

.

Leverkusen almost hit the home side's net in the first six minutes with a creeping ground shot, but it passed by the post.

Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso was forced to make an emergency substitution 10 minutes before the end of the first half after

Odilon Kossounou

was injured, so

Mitchel Bakker

replaced him.

Moments before the end of the first half,

Jeremie Frimpong

fired a long-range shot, but it went over the goal, so the two teams went to the break tied.

Roma returned from the break with a different face and put pressure on the German team with many attempts on goal in order to reach the first goal.

Roma reaped the fruits of his intense pressure after Hradecki responded to

Abraham's

shot, which bounced back to Bovey, who met the ball with a direct touch to the net scoring the lead.

After a misunderstanding between Patricio and

Roger Ibanez

the ball reached Frimpong, who shot hard, but

Cristante

blocked the ball with his chest and denied the guests an equalizer.
