Spalletti expects a Champions League reaction from Napoli after Milan humiliation

Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti promises they will produce a much better performance when they face Milan in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Napoli

who is 16 points clear at the top of Serie A, suffered a 4-0 defeat against

Milan

at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Sunday. This is their heaviest defeat in Serie A since a 5-1 thrashing against Atalanta in 2007.

After the game, Spalletti admitted that he hopes this result is just a bump in the road for them.

Spalletti said:

"Let's hope it's a hole and not a chasm.

"Tonight I saw great willingness on the part of the boys, I'm very confident. We'll go back to work tomorrow morning for the next one.

"Here, we played against the Italian champions, they are a team of the highest level. Last year they deservedly won the title – if you get something wrong you'll get a clear result."

Napoli and Milan will face each other in the Champions League quarter-finals in 10 days, and Spalletti said he expects his team to show a reaction in that game.

He added

: "We don't know.

"We've always reacted since I've been here. Sometimes we've lost a few games, but we have always reacted.”

Napoli who has lost two of their last three home games in Serie A, will face Lecce on Friday, before the first leg of their Champions League quarter-finals stage at San Siro five days later.
