Shevchenko thinks Mudryk is in 'good hands' at Chelsea

Despite his struggles so far, Mykhailo Mudryk has the backing of Andriy Shevchenko to eventually succeed at

. Mudryk has yet to find the back of the net for the Blues, and was subbed off in the second half of their 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa over the weekend.

However, Shevchenko, who played for Chelsea and AC Milan in his career, remains optimistic that

will soon find his form with the London club.

Shevchenko said to BBC Sport: 

"Chelsea have bought a talented player when he is very young, for the future. He's just starting his path in a massive football career. He's part of an ambitious project. He's in good hands. The decision to get him right now was down to how much the club believe in his talent."

Despite his big-money move to Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in January for a fee of £89 million ($110m), Mykhailo Mudryk has struggled to live up to expectations with the Blues.

The Ukrainian forward, who scored 10 goals in 18 appearances in the Premier Liga and Champions League for his former team this season, has failed to find the back of the net in any of the eight games he has played for Chelsea so far.
