Arsenal's Thomas Partey in an injury doubt after sitting out Ghana match

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey suffered an injury during the international break.

Partey played 90 minutes for Ghana in Tuesday's 1-0 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying win over Angola but missed Monday's 1-1 draw against the same opponents.

After the match, Ghana head coach Chris Hughton confirmed Partey has sustained a knock, and he decided not to risk him in this match.

"Thomas has some small issues,"

Hughton said at his post-match press conference.

"We felt it was too big of a risk to start him.”

Arsenal is expecting Partey to be back in London on Tuesday, where they will assess the midfielder. The club’s physio Simon Murphy accompanied Partey to Ghana to monitor his situation during the international break.

The 29-year-old midfielder has played in 30 matches for Arsenal this seasons. The Gunners chase their first Premier League title since 2004.

Arsenal who is at the top of the Premier League table will face Leeds United at home on Saturday, before travelling to Liverpool eight days later.

Mikel Arteta’s side is eight points clear at the top of the table after 28 matches, but they have played a game more than Manchester City.
