Lazio 1-0 Roma: Sarri's side moves into second spot after derby win

Lazio climbs into second place following beating their city rivals Roma with one goal in a fiery derby on Sunday.

at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday thanks to Mattia Zaccagni’s goal in the 65th minute.

Roma was reduced to 10 man in the 32nd minute after Roger Ibanez received his second yellow card following tripping Sergej Milinkovic-Savic after losing possession.

Zaccagni slipped through the defence and curled in a low shot from a tight angle to give Lazio the lead. Roma equalised from a set piece in the 68th minute, but it was ruled out due to offside.

Jose Mourinho was absent from the touchline due to his ban for arguing with a fourth official. An assistant manager from each team was also sent off following a scuffle in the first half. Roma’s Bryan Cristante and Lazio’s Adam Marusic also both received a red card after the final whistle.

Maurizio Sarri's side, who also won the derby in the first half of the season, now is in second place in the table with 52 points, albeit Inter has a game in hand against Juventus. Roma is in fifth place in the table with 47 points.
