Klopp concedes that Bournemouth deserved the victory

The Reds followed their ecstasy of a 7-0 over rivals Man Utd with a lackluster performance against Bournemouth which saw them defeated 1-0

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admitted that Bournemouth deserved their 1-0 win against his team and that the

Reds

missed an opportunity to move into the top four of the Premier League.

Mohamed Salah, who had scored two goals in Liverpool's previous game against Manchester United, missed a penalty in the second half of the game against Bournemouth, leaving the Reds disappointed after Philip Billing's first-half goal had already given the Cherries a 1-0 lead.

Klopp believed the missed penalty could have been a turning point in the game but he acknowledged that Bournemouth deserved the win. He also added that Bournemouth, who had given leaders Arsenal a tough time in their previous game, were due for a win.

"The last penalty we got in the league was long ago and it's completely hypothetical but if we score there, the game could turn,"

he told BT Sport.

"It doesn't make the performance better but could change the result at least. He scores goals, he scores a lot of goals, but he missed the penalty, that's life.

"It was clear from the first second that we come here, Bournemouth are fighting to stay in the league, wonderful club, wonderful city, they want to stay in and they do really well.

"Results were not going in the right direction in the last few months, but the performances look different, and so they deserve the three points today, that's it."

Bournemouth

's Adam Smith expressed his belief that justice was served following Salah's missed penalty, as the penalty decision against him for handball was controversial. He also mentioned that even some Liverpool players were unsure about the penalty decision.

"Even some of the Liverpool lads said it was a bit harsh,"

he said.

"I was jumping, I couldn't see the ball, I don't know how I meant to stop that. I jump with my hands, I think my arms were down, so maybe it was a little bit of justice that they missed it."
