Kovacic hails "fighting Chelsea" after 1-0 victory over Leeds United

Chelsea's six-game losing streak came to an end with a narrow victory over the relegation-threatened Leeds United thanks to Wesley Fofana's first Premier League goal. Kovacic hails his colleague's commitment to their badge.

Victory over Leeds United eased the pressure on under-fire Graham Potter, with the Croatian midfielder expressing his gratitude for the support the players were given. Mateo Kovacic told Chelsea's official website:

"I felt the crowd was behind us the whole game.

"[It] is not easy, because we are in a bad moment.

"Tenth place is not good for Chelsea. It was a great atmosphere, and we showed them that we can fight for this badge, and we gave them the three points."

Chelsea will next face Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday in the Champions League when they try to overturn the 1-0 defeat in the reverse fixture. Kovacic added: "

The win was much needed. The three points were important for us to lift the confidence.

"Unfortunately, the ball does not want to go in at the moment, but in the end, we scored. We're happy with the points. We need to continue now. This is a step forward."
