Leeds United set to appoint Javi Gracia as manager on deal until summer

Javi Gracia is set to be confirmed as the new Leeds United head coach on a contract until the end of the season.

According to the English press,

Leeds United

is set to confirm Javi Gracia as their new head coach until the end of the season.

Reports suggest that the negotiations with him went well, and he will arrive at Leeds' Elland Road stadium to sign his contract on Tuesday.

Leeds sacked Jesse Marsch two weeks ago, but they failed to reach an agreement with their targets. Feyenoord’s Arne Slot, West Brom’s Carlos Corberán, the former River Plate coach Marcel Gallardo and Rayo Vallecano’s Andoni Iraola all were on Leeds list to replace Marsch, but the negotiations did not materialise.

Leeds reportedly has reached an agreement with the 52-year-old Gracia to manage the team until the end of the season, and they may try again to convince their top targets in the summer.

Gracia was Watford’s manager from January 2018 until September 2019 and reached the FA Cup final in 2019. He recently was Al Sadd’s manager and won the Qatari League last season but was sacked last June. The Spanish manager has also managed Malaga and Rubin Kazan.

Leeds is in the

Premier League

’s relegation zone after defeat against Everton on Saturday. They have just 19 points after 23 matches and will face

Southampton

on Saturday. Leeds has failed to win any of their last 10 games.
