Spalletti stalled contract negotiations in favor of Napoli’s Scudetto

Leading the Serie A table with 56 points 13 points clear of the second-placed Inter, Napoli has the chance to win the Scudetto for the first time since 1990, when they won the title with Diego Maradona.

For the sake of

Napoli's

push for the first Scudetto in three decades,

Luciano Spalletti

has stalled contract negotiations with the club with his contract due to expire this summer.

Ahead of their Sunday Serie A clash with Cremonese, Spalletti told his press conference:

"My contract is a tiny detail within a great occasion.

"If we want to create problems for ourselves then let's talk about my contract, or the players'. These talks create problems.

"Let's only think about tomorrow, we eat with the present. Everyone has a desire for the future, but it comes through the present and we must succeed by focusing on the game."

Winning their last eight home Serie A games, Spalletti is uninterested in debates of when would Napoli seize the title.

"

If we project ourselves beyond the Cremonese game, we create problems,

" he added.

"I hear things about how many points are enough, how many we still need, then I'm not good at reckoning and you'll be angry with us.

"Even I wouldn't have expected these points and this gap, like everyone else."
