Chelsea defender Thiago Silva agrees to extend his contract with the club

The two parties have come to an agreement to extend Silva’s contract for another year.

Chelsea’s 38-year-old defender

Thiago Silva

has agreed to extend his contract with the Blues for another season.

Silva, who previously played for AC Milan and captained PSG for years, has been one of Chelsea’s standout players in the two seasons he has been at the club, despite his advancing years as a footballer.

The Brazilian has been a constant in Chelsea’s backline, both under Tuchel and now under Graham Potter, and now has been paired with Chelsea’s new signing Benoit Badiashile.

With Chelsea being in transition under Graham Potter, the club as well as Silva himself are eager to sign a new contract, considering his current deal with Chelsea expires in the Summer.

The two parties have reportedly reached an agreement and if Silva were to sign a new contract, he would stay at Chelsea past his 40th birthday. However, the Brazilian doesn’t show any sign of slowing down or regressing as a defender at this age.

With a relatively young

Chelsea

side under Potter, Silva’s experience and commanding presence could certainly come in handy.
