Leeds United make contact over signing Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie

Leed United has opened talks with Juventus over the signing of midfielder Weston McKennie in the January transfer window.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio,

Leeds United

has started negotiations with

Juventus

over

Weston McKennie

. Juventus need to sell some of their players to be able to sign new ones, and they are open to selling McKennie for around €35-40m.

Fabrizio Romano also claims that Leeds is exploring new options for the midfield, and McKennie is one of their options. Azzedine Ounahi is also on their radar.

Aston Villa and Bournemouth were interested in the 24-year-old American international, but Juventus has not received any offers yet.

According to reports in Italy last week, Arsenal also has approached the 24-year-old’s agent, but no contact has yet been made with Juventus.

It has been reported that Juventus is looking to replace Mckennie with either Alexis MacAllister or free agent Isco.

McKennie joined Juventus from Schalke on a loan deal in 2020, and then he signed a four-year contract in 2021. He won the Coppa Italia in 2021 and has scored 8 goals in 65 matches for Juventus. McKennie suffered a serious injury in February 2022 and missed the rest of the season.

Juventus currently sits ninth in the Serie A table following their 15-point deduction, which occured after their financial irregularities and false accounting.

The January transfer window closes on Tuesday, January 31, 2023.
