Bayern legend Philip Lahm picks Bellingham as his 2022 Bundesliga player of the year
The legendary fullback Philip Lahm picks out Bellingham and Musiala as the standout players of 2022.
may play for Bayern Munich’s bitter rivals but it hasn’t stopped the former Bayern Munich captain to name him as the best Bundesliga player in 2022.
Talking with Vundesliga’s official website, Lahm revealed:
“[Naming the player of the year] is always difficult to answer. In a year like this, of course, there must be a bit of World Cup in the mix. I think, if there is one to choose, I'd have to say Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund, who has developed very well so far. He is a crucial player at BVB.
"Also,
Jamal Musiala, who especially in 2022-23 so far has [been crucial] in almost all games for Bayern Munich. He also had three good games at the World Cup. I would say those are the [standout] players because others have also struggled a bit."
Lahm went on to say that because of injury problems for Christopher Nkunku, who won the award last season, as well as the fact that Robert Lewandowski has left Bundesliga, Bellingham has a bigger chance to win the award in 2022-23.
