Memphis Depay has found a new suitor in Newcastle United

The Magpies look to bolster their attacking prowess by adding the Dutch World Cup star Memphis Depay.

Newcastle are working on a deal with Barcelona to bring their fringed winger

Memphis Depay

to St James’ Park, as Fabrizio Romano reports.

Despite his great start at Barcelona last season, Depay has found no place in Xavi’s Barcelona since Koeman’s sacking. The former Lyon winger has only featured in 122 minutes of gametime for Barcelona so far which is one-fifth of the amount of time he has played for Netherlands since the start of the season.

Barcelona were really trying to ship him off in the summer but no agreements were reached with potential suitors. With the January transfer window coming up, it seems more likely that Depay departs from Camp Nou as teams like Newcastle come calling.

Despite the interest however,

Newcastle

hasn’t yet offered any concrete deal to the player or to Barcelona. With Howe’s side in need of attacking reinforcements, it is possible that Memphis Depay will be their main focus come January.

Depay who formerly did a stint at Manchester United, is valued around €20m but could go for a lot less since his contract is up in June 2023.
