Vinicius Jr reveals the man behind his Brazil success
Vinicius Jr has named Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti as the one that helped him nail down a Brazil starting role.
Real Madrid youngster has been having a good tournament, scoring once and assisting twice so far for Brazil. Vinicius’ brilliant form at
Real Madridthis season suggested that he would have a great World Cup but the 23-year-old reveals that his manager Carlo Ancelotti has influenced his recent form significantly, as he said:
"I talked with Ancelotti and he gave me a lot of advice to help me become a starter with Brazil. He gave me a lot of confidence. He was always was tough with me when he needed to be. He is like a father to me.
"He is good not only with the technical aspects of the game, but also with how he deals with his players. I have been improving a lot and Ancelotti has helped me with that. He and [Brazil coach] Tite are very similar and they talk to each other a lot."
Alongside Ancelotti, teammate Neymar Jr. has been another figure who has mentored
Vinicius, as he revealed:
"[Neymar] told me how the World Cup is different than anything else. He told me that, and I always remember it. And when the national anthem played, I realized what it all meant."
Vinicius opened Brazil’s account on their 4-1 thumping of South Korea that saw the Selecao move on to the quarter-finals of the World Cup where they’ll meet Croatia on Friday.
