Breaking: Harry Kane breaks Lineker’s England goalscoring record

Scoring England's second goal in their 3-1 victory over Senegal, the England and Tottenham captain overtook Gary Lineker as the Three Lions' all-time record goalscorer at major tournaments.

Going against Senegal in the last 16 of the 2022 Qatar World Cup, the two sides met on Sunday where the Three Lions secured a 3-1 victory over the AFCON champions with goals from Henderson, Kane, and Saka, with Phil Foden providing assists for England's last two goals.

Despite claiming Golden Boot in Russia, it was

Harry Kane

's first goal in the Qatar 2022. However, he now has scored 11 goals in major competitions, one more than Lineker as he became England's all-time record goalscorer at major tournaments.

Threatening Senegal repeatedly during the first half, Jordan Henderson eventually scored the opener in the 38th minute as the Liverpool captain finished Jude Bellinghum's intelligent pass. Harry Kane soon doubled England's lead in the 45th minute before the two sides went into the dressing room with a 2-0 result.

The English men scored once more during the second half through Saka in the 57th-minute, which sent England to the quarter-finals of the tournament.
