Casemiro’s rocket shoots Brazil into the last 16 of the World Cup

Selecao secures the 3 points as Casemiro’s screamer edges them over Switzerland 1-0

Tite’s men looked to be the second team after France to pass to the last 16 as they faced Switzerland and they managed to do so by the finest margin.

Brazil who started the tournament with a fiery performance against Serbia were without their star striker Neymar but they managed to get the job done by the end. But the star of the match was midfielder Casemiro and not any of Brazil’s talented attackers who were silenced by

Switzerland

’s organized defending for the majority of the game.

the game started a bit slowly, especially in the first half were a Vinicius Jr. effort challenged Yann Sommer to produce a save but Tite’s side ramped up their efforts in the second half.

Vinicius Jr. looked like a major threat from the left flank as Real Madrid forward managed to generate some good chances, culminating in a goal that was eventually ruled out by VAR.

It was then Casemiro’s turn to shine when a combination play between Vinicius and Rodrygo saw the United midfielder receive the ball which he buried in the top corner with a half-volley.

Despite brilliant defending for the majority of the match, Switzerland were unable to mount any serious challenge on Alisson’s goal.

Brazil

now moves to the next round with a match to spare where they will face Cameroon. Switzerland and Serbia will have to battle it out for the second spot barring any Cameroon surprise.
