Gattuso: "Barca recalling Nico Gonzalez? No player has spoken to me"

In light of rumours that Barcelona may recall Nico Gonzalez, Gennaro Gattuso has pushed him to break into Valencia's starting lineup.

Gennaro Gattuso

thinks

Nico Gonzalez

will stay at Valencia for the rest of the season, even though there have been reports that Barcelona might bring the midfielder back.

Nico left

Barcelona

on loan in August to play more often, but he hasn't been able to get a spot on the first team with

Valencia

. Valencia is off to a good start in Gattuso's first season as coach. They have won four of their first eight LaLiga games, but the 20-year-old hasn't played much.

Nico has only played for 231 minutes in the league this season. He has made seven appearances in the league, but five of them have been from the bench.

Since Barcelona has a lot of injured players, there have been rumours in Spain that the Blaugrana could end Nico's loan early in January. However, Gattuso has told him to try to get on Valencia's team instead.

"This is the first time I've heard of it. No player has spoken to me,"

Gattuso said.

"He is working very well. He has a one-year contract with us. The player has not come to talk to me."

"All the players want to be starters and I think he should work well on the field, and when he has the opportunity to play, show it. He is a great professional. He trains very well but I have a squad of 23 or 24 players. He is a kid who always trains fully."
