Haaland can hit 50 goals in Premier League - Akanji

With his brilliant start at the beginning of his tenure at City, the Norwegian star has given the fans hope for a great record breaking.

Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji believes that his teammate Erling Holland can reach the record 50 goals in the Premier League.

The Norwegian star has had an exceptional start in England and has scored 19 goals in 12 games this season. The Norwegian star has 3 hat tricks in the Premier League so far this season and managed to score 2 goals against Copenhagen in the Champions League, bringing his number of goals in this competition to 28 goals in 22 games, which is a record 1.27 average. Andy Cole and Alan Shearer hold the record for most goals in a single Premier League season with 34, and Akanji believes Holland can break the record.

Asked if Haaland could hit 50 goals, Akanji said:

“If he stays healthy then I think there is nothing that can stop him, yes."

Southampton defender Kyle Walker-Peters, who will play against Manchester City this week and will be tasked with stopping Erling Haaland from scoring, believes it is too early to compare the Norwegian star to the likes of Harry Kane. He added:

"Come on. Harry Kane has done it for how many years in the Premier League?

“I think Haaland has had an absolutely unbelievable start. Some of the stats I’m seeing, it’s just ridiculous.

"But Kane has proven it for God knows how many years now. I don't think we can compare them just yet. Haaland is definitely hungry to prove to people he's better than him [Kane].

"And Kane will want to stay at the top. So they'll have a good battle for top goalscorer."
