Bayern Munich 4-0 Bayer Leverkusen: The Bavarian are back on track

Bayern Munich's dominant first-half advantage over Bayer Leverkusen placed them on the path to their first Bundesliga victory in five matches.

In a 4-0 victory over

Bayer Leverkusen

,

Bayern Munich

's ability to defend the Bundesliga championship was underlined by a ruthlessly efficient first-half demolition effort.

Leroy Sane

,

Jamal Musiala

, and

Sadio Mane

scored before halftime to put the defending champions in the driver's seat for a well-earned victory on Friday at Allianz Arena. Thomas Muller added a fourth goal late in the game.

Concerns about

Julian Nagelsmann

's squad and their supposed chances of winning another Premier League title following a terrible domestic run that saw them go winless in their last four league games.

For the time being, though, they have been resoundingly silenced, as Gerardo Seoane's squad's dreadful start to the season on the road worsened in excruciating form.

Sane was passed off the right side and could roll a deflected shot past Lukas Hradecky's off-balanced position in just three minutes. Musiala followed suit shortly after the quarter-hour mark, exchanging a one-two with Muller off a long ball before squeezing in a shot, and Sane scored the third goal from the edge of the penalty area six minutes before halftime.

VAR ruled that Odilon Kossounou was fouled 10 minutes after the break, overturning a second goal scored by Mane, but this was likely of little solace for Leverkusen.

However, Bayern were not finished, and when Muller pressed Hradecky late in the game, the goalkeeper's unfortunate error provided an open net for the veteran to finish off a resounding victory.
